April 2, 2020

Fellow church family,

Florida governor Ron DeSantis issued a statewide stay at home order on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 to curb the infection. This order starts at midnight on April 3rd and will last at least 30 days.

It is important that we listen and obey the order that was issued. We want to do our part in helping stop the spread of COVID-19. If you can stay home from work please do so, keep you and your family safe and healthy.

Due to this recent update we are cancelling retrieval of palms and books on Sunday, April 5th. Palm Sunday.

If you  would like a copy of the Word Among Us and/or Living Faith books mailed to you, please send an email to stjhc@bellsouth.net. It would be helpful to send your mailing address so we can verify it. I received a great number of letters back from the first mail out we sent and want to take this opportunity to verify everything for accuracy. Please indicate in the email which book you would like sent to you. Please consider sending a donation to cover the postage using one of the options below.

The office continues to be closed and Mass is suspended until further notice. This is such a difficult time for all of us not having Mass available to us. Remember that Jesus is not confined to the tabernacle but wants to be in our homes and hearts as well. You can participate in Mass online.

Online mass information can be found at https://www.dosafl.com/masses/.

To help pay the monthly expenses which are ongoing even with the current situation, please consider continuing to financially contribute one of the following ways.

Online giving:  The donate here button on  this page is for St. John’s, if you are with one of the mission churches please click on the name of your church at the top of the page to be directed to your church page and a donate button can be found on the bottom left side, click on it .

Bill pay: Use your own bank pay feature. This service is usually free and there is no cost to the parish. Set up St. John’s, Holy Cross, St. Andrew’s as payee and use your envelope number if you know it as the account number. The address to send the check to is below.

Mail: You may mail your offertory by putting in plain envelope and addressing it to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church PO Box 863, Chiefland FL. 32644. Be sure to specify on the check or money order which church you are giving to.
